From youth to present, Philippe Simon has practiced
athletics and team sports. He began martial arts and combat sports
in 1969 and has developed skilled experience in several disciplines
including judo, Shotokan karate,
Kyokushinkai as well as full-contact..
Motivated with an ardent desire to constantly learn and surpass himself
, he perfected his abilities with a variety of experts in diversified
schools of close contact.
During a foreign mission in 1990 he discovered Krav
Maga. He obtained his Instructor's Certificate
(IKMF
and EIKM)
in 1999, followed by specialized instructor diplomas in Krav-maga
for VIP protection and Special Forces.
Parallel to these specializations he acquired the statute
of expert in self defense, tonfa and the defense stick.
He joined the National Police Force in 1980 and shortly thereafter
he integrated specialized units and the special services of the Minister
of Interior. Rapidly following he was assigned to the DST, an operational
security team (Direction de la Surveillance du Territoire/ Direction
of National Security) undertaking special assignments with interventions,
close contact protection, tailing, and special missions. He continued
his career, as instructor and field instructor, within this domain
of the French administration until 1998.
Philippe Simon was then transferred to the Department of Physical
Education and Professionalism of the National Police Force in Lyons
where he became Deputy Head of the Unit.
He was in charge of training 3000 police agents in Lyons.
Conscientious of the importance to dispense a complete vocational
range for maximum operational success, he developed polyvalent-disciplined
programs comprised of techniques in defensive shooting, combat situational
course work, techniques for intervention, professional use of the
tonfa and the telescopic police baton.
He continued to ensure professional training which allowed him to
develop a tactical doctrine unique in itself pertaining to various
space and context situations. He created a security mission specifically
related to confined space implemented in trains by railway police.
He developed a corpus of instruction specifically for interventions
in penitentiaries; he participated in the handling of urban violence.In
addition Philippe Simon has trained more than 2000 civilians in various
clubs.
In September 2006, he left, to a certain extent, his full time duties with the national police, remaining nonetheless, a voluntary reservist. Since, he has totally devoted his efforts to FIKOP( the International Federation of Operational and Professional Krav) that he created in 2006 and whereby he ensures the duty of Chief Instructor.
Philippe Simon presently trains O.P.K. instructors issued from the civil society, i.e. administrations. He presently trains a number of different students in France and abroad, parallel to remaining a consultant for intervention groups.
